Nature

Close People short film

CLOSE PEOPLE is a short film about the emotional cost of always saying “yes.” As pressure from friends, work, family, and love builds up, the protagonist reaches his breaking point. As a colorist, I used a restrained, natural palette that gradually darkens to reflect his growing internal tension.

About the Project

The project was shot using two different camera systems. Approximately 80% of the film was captured on RED, while the remaining 20% was filmed on Sony in a non-log profile, resulting in overexposed highlights and limited dynamic range. Additionally, inconsistent lighting conditions and minor skin tone shifts created visual imbalance between scenes.

To unify the footage, I built a controlled color pipeline starting with precise exposure normalization and highlight recovery on the Sony clips. For the RED material, I preserved dynamic range while carefully matching contrast and color density. Skin tones were isolated and refined using secondary corrections to ensure natural consistency across all shots. The overall look was balanced to maintain continuity without forcing an artificial match.

Despite the technical differences, the final film achieves a seamless visual flow. The audience does not perceive camera changes, and the color progression subtly supports the emotional tension of the story while maintaining a realistic aesthetic.
